ADDENDUM

As I told someone else a little while ago, I'm rethinking my, "pad out the wordcount by adding reams of smut" approach to the NaNoWriMo contest. Seems like cheating when everyone else is writing a real novel, or something resembling one, you know? So, I'm going to have to delete about three thousand words (and I was up to 16,526, too! Wah!) but I think it's a more honest approach.

I will never reach 50,000 without smut, though. Of all the things I've learned (which aren't, actually, many) in this contest so far, the fact that I don't really seem to have anything to write about if I'm not writing smut is the one most guaranteed to convince me that I shouldn't quit my day job, you know? This novel was going nowhere and it was going nowhere in a particularly badly written fashion until I stuck the smut into it.

I think that's rather sad.
